About us

As was stated in the Welcome we are 35 years old and still going strong and who knows what the future will bring.

Our Mission Statement is; “To promote interest and participation in sport throughout Perth and Kinross.” We have a Service Level Agreement with Perth and Kinross Council to carry out this function and in return we get a grant of £18,000 per year.

Our Objectives are many and these can be found in our Constitution.

The Executive within the Sports Council is made up of 22 Volunteer members who all have the knowledge and skills to take our Mission Statement forward. Our office-bearer positions are, Chair, Vice Chair, Grants Chair and Operations Chair. We also have 6 Councillors from Perth and Kinross Council who are their representatives and they attend as many meetings as possible. We have Administration and Financial support from Perth and Kinross Council and this support is something that we cannot do without.

At our bi-monthly Executive meetings we receive many reports these are from our Area Representatives, Active Schools and other sports agencies such as; SportTayside & Fife, Tayside & Fife Institute of Sport, Perth & Kinross Leisure, SportScotland and the Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils. We also, under different headings lead by Sub-Committee Chairpersons discuss and give out numerous types of Grants and discuss and take forward all things pertaining to Operations, which includes events, both of these headings are pertinent to the functions of the Sports Council.
